A montage of another recording from Sounds True. Can't recall the name, but this isn't the "full version" of what I think was either the Findhorn Retreat or other.

It was nice to return to the characters and get some resolve for them, although I felt this book dragged on unlike it's prequel. Still very enjoyable to read!

If you love Theresa so much, you'd put up with anything this book is for you. If you skip this book and you won't miss anything and you will likely have a better review of the series. I'm not sure how this book made it into the series - the quality of the writing is much less than the others. The characters are very typical of a mediocre YA novel which is made worse by the presence of a dominant supporting character (Alec) being a quintessential "Hoorah" military veteran. Women are less skilled and less intelligent and although this book is not sexist, it is far from the level playing field the other novels were. Not last, but I don't want to rant, is the need to constantly tap into the tank of the willingness to suspend disbelief. There are simply way too many times that Mark and Alec should have killed and yet they walk away on to the next battle, with nothing but a bruise or a few moments of unconsciousness. If you love Theresa so much, you'd put up with anything this book is for you. - "Shouldn't someone give a pep talk or something?" Minho asked, pulling Thomas's attention away from Alby. "Go ahead," Newt replied. Minho nodded and faced the crowd. "Be careful," he said dryly. This book made me wonder about the quality of books publishers turn down. If this made it through, it must be atrocious. Albeit Dey has some interesting ways of describing/looking at some situations this book baffled me. "Prevalent" does not adequately describe the amount of sex and adultery that is described in this book. The girls are given jewellery and the boys a nickname to denote their loss of virginity. If Dey is trying to make a point about anything by way of a fringe society or controversial settings I believe she ought to try again. Although I won't read it!This book made me wonder about the quality of books publishers turn down. If this made it through, it must be atrocious. While I believe Thomas has created a story that shines a light on the current reality of police discrimination against visible minorities, I don't think this novel furthers any dialogue. As a person of color, I groaned reading this, feeling it was just furthering the cliche of what it means to be black. At the same time though, there were aspects that rang true to me: there is a fine line of being "just black enough" when with the white majority while not becoming "the angry black girl". The relationships Starr has are, like the last reviewer mentioned, more like that of a 13 year old. I'm glad Thomas had the ending as it was, with regards to the verdict, but the book still left a tacky taste in my mouth. While I believe Thomas has created a story that shines a light on the current reality of police discrimination against visible minorities, I don't think this novel furthers any dialogue. *Spoiler Alert* After being disappointed in some of the middle novels, namely which prominent characters have passed away, I feel I am reinstated as a fan of this series after this addition. Flavia is an fantastic representation of what many women are: intelligent and passionate. Her connection with Dogger, in all its subtleties, is powerful. Although Bradley repeats punch-line phrases a few times, which seems to damper the tone (surely with he and Flavia's expertise, there are more ways to express what he has) this book is well worth the read for an original fan.
