WOW, you're never going to forget this book. I read it in one day, ignoring the fact that it was a sunny, beautiful winter day. SO different. Will certainly reading the next in the series.

John Wayne Cleaver knows all about serial killers. He knows so much about serial killers that he sees all the signs showing that he is one himself. From the moment he realized that his "normal" isn’t actually normal, he set himself a…

All I have to say is wow. I loved this book. The concept of the book was extremely engaging, and I couldn’t stop reading! I am obsessed with serial killers as well so in that sense, I could relate to the main character. This book does deal…

This book really grabbed my attention as the author creates his lead character, John Wayne Cleaver, a very self-aware, fifteen year old sociopath. It made me wonder if some of real-life's serial killers were self-aware of their nature…

Interesting premise but falls apart with a bizarre conclusion. Really surprised how much I disliked this book. Watch reruns of Dexter instead.

Not the type of book I usually read - I wouldn't have even bothered had I known there was a demon in the story. But this book is so well written, nicely paced, with such interesting characters, I'm glad I ignored my usual bias and read it.…

The pacing is entertaining, and it's got a fascinating sense of place. Characters feel a little stock, but hey, I don't mind when I'm just so entranced by the weird events occurring therein. You'll have to prop up your belief with several…

This is the solid start to an AWESOME series. I'm currently--as of this writing--reading the last book in the series which just came out, NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE--the seventh book crowning two trilogies. Dan Wells' writing is always awesome.…

This book was very surprising. Overall it was entertaining, action-packed and full of interesting characters. The main character John is a sociopath and makes for a very unique, but thrilling point of view. Be prepared for a twist out of…

What a surprisingly good book. The pacing was fast, the plotting tight, and John Wayne Cleaver is a great, if not utterly bizarre, kid with whom to enjoy the ride. Seriously, this was one of the weirdest books I've ever read, let alone…

Picked this up after reading a promising review of the movie adaptation - haven't seen the film yet, but read this book in two sittings (and am now waiting for the 2nd entry in the series).

Read this book you will not regret it. Dan Wells has a very simpleton, and stylish prose , in his writing. He is also smooth in his ideas.

A very fresh take on the Dexter-type serial killer in formation combined with supernatural elements. I quite enjoyed reading this book, together with the next 2 volumes in this trilogy: "Mr. Monster" and "I don't want to kill you".

John Wayne Cleaver at age 15 just knows he is destined to be a serial killer. He has a similar name to John Wayne Gacy, his father’s name is Sam, making him the Son-of-Sam, and his last name is a useful device for a serial killer to have.…

Great book for those who love Dexter. Main character narrates the book and it is very interesting to see the events from the point of view of a junior serial killer in training.

Because wrong is interesting. Because as it gets "wronger", it becomes terribly more interesting. In part, that's how John, the fifteen year old mortuary assistant explains it to his only friend Max. John is a diagnosed sociopath, who at…
