I enjoyed this quirky comedy. (I can usually count on Justin Bateman to pick good comedies to star in. He's a fine actor.) Although, while the credits were rolling at the end, I started to think...hey?! Even suspending disbelief a bit, why would the main characters be so forgiving--considering that van and car chase scene? Or were they?
Better than I thought it was going to be. Funny, interesting, a little lacking on the keeps-you-guessing part, but overall worth a watch.
Not the best, but not the worst I've seen. It had a couple of giggling moments, but besides that it was kind of blah.
Thought it would be cute, I like the two main characters, but it was so boring and just plain dumb.
I thought this movie was hilarious. Might have a twist too many, but I enjoyed it!
Loved the movie ..... just really fun comedy to watch. Wish they made more of these like this.
I really enjoyed this thriller/comedy. This story of a murder mystery party gone terribly wrong is very amusing. It is loaded with funny scenes and great lines, and the plot, while pretty implausible, has lots of twists and turns and is very entertaining and fun. The cast, led by Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams, is great. There are several standout supporting roles. I wasn't expecting to like this so much so it was a pleasant surprise.
If you typically enjoy Jason Bateman's humour, you will like this movie.
What a ridiculously stupid, boring movie! The dialogue just sounded like an annoying hum of hornets in my ears than real words. People found this funny? I never laughed once or grinned. It is shameful to know that most people enjoyed this movie.
My partner and I watched this film without much expectation but was pleasantly surprised. We did like this film that we found to be funny, unpredictable, with lots of twists and turns and with a good cast.
Jason Bateman (The Gift: 2015, Central Intelligence: 2016; Arrested Development: tv: 2003 - 2018), Rachal McAdams (Spotlight: 2015; Doctor Strange: 2016) as the two main characters played their role well, as there will be no academy awards with this one, but was an enjoyable romp with some seriousness mixed with some well played physical comedy.
The almost 4 minute extra was of no real value, as it was basically a recap of the film.
We do not typically go for comedies as they can be full of cheap jokes and kind of trashy, but this one is excellent! A fabulous tale of a couple who love games of all sorts; well, one night it all goes a little out of whack. Rachel McAdams is fantastic and Bateman did a great job too. Not recommended for anyone sensitive to profanity (kids) as there is the obligatory f*** continually sprinkled through out, and a bit of violence, but proportionally not too bad and we over-looked it to enjoy this well spun tale. It was great to laugh and loved the down-ward dog scene!
Light sometimes funny movie with some violent/gory scenes. But it seems like a rip-off of "The Man Who Knew Too Little".
Well, where do I start - I thought this comedy was a bit boring and stupid although the story line could have been played off well.
A movie with lots of twists and turns is usually a good thing. Not so with this film. It takes a good cast/premise and brings everything to a crashing halt with a plot that is so enamored with showing you how clever it is that it forgets to be cohesive.
It's the first time in a VERY long time that a comedy made me laugh so much! I find the recent comedies to be somewhat... lacking. This film, however is a fun comedy with a really nice cast. I loved Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams as the Game board loving couple, Jesse Plemons as the creepy neighbor and there were some guest appearances that were great.
A movie you are embarrassed to say you enjoyed. There are more laughs here than most comedies out right now. Completely absurd premise and plot with several look alike actors mixed with B performers who still hold their own against A listers. Don’t know why it got the R rating compared to more violent or raunchy movies that get a lower rating. There is some weird theme music and beats throughout the movie reminiscent of some low budget 80’s made for TV movies. Definitely not for millenials who wouldn’t know who Bateman is let alone ever been to a game night. Don’t know why someone said these are GenY couples or this is a remake. It is not something I would recommend for everyone, but it really isn’t an awful movie and it pulls some laughs off.
