Malone, one of Canada's best newsmen, started the war as a reserve officer and secretary to the minister of defence. Badly wounded as a brigade major in Sicily, he was then appointed personal liaison officer to General Montgomery, and finally put in charge of all Canadian press operations. What a resume!
The book tells it all in a series of views of the war, from the finest details to the broadest sweep, with an eye for people's characters throughout. A fascinating book and a great read.
