This book was fascinating, exciting, and contemplative all at the same time. The main character, Patience, is determined and smart; I liked seeing her mind think and her body fight and act. We get to see an alien world settled by humans and how they have adapted to all the strange natural lifeforms they found there.

The first OSC book I read. Came across this book at the school library in Jr High, and I've been an OSC fanatic ever since!
