Beware: the title is "New City Gardener, " NOT "New York City Gardener". The urban garden envisioned by this (Toronto-based) author has no basis in reality for those of us in New York City: endless backyards, broad front gardens, vast rooftop terraces. I give it two stars because the pictures are lovely and there is a smattering of good advice, but if you, member of the New York Public Library, do not live within the outer portions of the outer boroughs with space to spare, don't waste your time with this book. It'll only break your heart, seeing what you can't possibly have.
