Good writing but this is 1/2 of a book as it leaves the bad folks out there-we will have to clean them up in part 2-I hope!
I have read a few other books by Steve Hamilton. I decided to go back and start with his first novel and work my way up. I really enjoy this Alex McKnight character who drinks Canadian beer. I am sensing a pattern with these novels; they all seem to take place in the winter!!!!!
Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are!!!!
I just could not get into this. Maybe adult mystery just isn't the genre for me? It felt like nothing was happening, and I didn't care about the characters.
Hyperventilatingly good. Suspense. Fear. Twists. I saw some superficial resemblance to Robert B. Parker's Jesse Stone series. Ex-baseball player, ex-big city cop, working as a PI in a small outstate community called Paradise. The first Stone book is copyrighted 1997 and this copyrighted in 1998.
This first book by a new author is way better than some of the garbage many seasoned authors are putting out. Yes, the end is formulaic, but the writing is good, the plot is entertaining, and I want to read a few more by him to see if he developed as a writer
Debut of yooper PI Alex McKnight, who is being stalked through the lovely November weather of northern Michigan. Tense drama and colorful characters.
