Clementine is having not so good of a week.
On Monday she's sent to the principal's office for cutting off Margaret's hair. Tuesday, Margaret's mother is mad at her. Wednesday, she's sent to the principal again. Thursday, Margaret stops speaking to her. Friday starts with yucky eggs and gets worse. And by Saturday, even her mother is mad at her. Okay, fine. Clementine is having a DISASTROUS week.

Clementine is a joy to read about and will charm both kids and adults. Pennypacker has nailed the experience of a 3rd grader with too much energy and so many ideas keep "sproinging" into her head. What is a girl to do?! One of my favorite scenes was when Clementine told Princi-pal Rice that she was still waiting for a gift in the gifted math class. Ha! Would make a splendid classroom read aloud for 2nd or 3rd grade.

My daughter and I loved this series! Clementine is a smart, energetic girl, an artist, a good friend, an animal lover...someone I wish lived next door, so she could be best friends with my little girl. We checked the whole series out from the library, and my daughter has already asked if I would buy it for her collection. I have no doubt she'll be reading these again and again, as she has with favorites by Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume.

Interest level: ages 6-10. Eight-year-old Clementine is having a not so good week. Her teacher keeps telling her to pay attention. Her friend Margaret wants her hair cut, but when Clementine helps out everyone gets mad. And now her dad needs help winning the Great Pigeon War. Young listeners will laugh and empathize with the unforgettable Clementine. First in a series.

Spunky Clementine finds herself in constant trouble, despite trying so hard to do the right thing. This is a great read for anyone who can relate to being (or parenting) "the hard one".

Clementine is always getting in trouble at school for not paying attention. The problem is she is paying attention, just not to the things her teacher wants her to. Clementine is also always thinking of ways to make things better. It's too bad that the adults in her life don't understand her ideas. So Clementine spends a lot of time in the principal's office. Teacher's send notes home. Neighbour's whisper about her being the difficult child. Still, can this irrepressible little girl, save the day in the end.

This is a wonderful story about an ADHD, artistic young girl who seems to have a talent for finding trouble. The humour in this book is twinned with actual pathos, leaving the reader with alternating tears and smiles. This is a sweet, book that is full of truth and joy.

Get this.

This is a delightful book for children in grades 2-6. Clementine is an, intelligent, entertaining little girl. My 9-year-old son and I laughed out loud while reading this one. Don't forget the rest of the series.
