"Don't miss it!" - BookPage.

"The plot is precise and sweet, and Jackson includes the perfect ingredients: quirky characters, a picturesque setting and ample surprises. Evocative and lovingly crafted." -- Kirkus Reviews, starred.

Nonny Frett understands the meaning of the phrase "between a rock and a hard place" better than any woman alive. She has two mothers, "one deaf-blind and the other four baby steps from flat crazy." She has two men: a husband who's easing out the back door; and a best friend, who's laying siege to her heart in her front yard. And she has two families: the Fretts, who got her and raised her right; and the Crabtrees, who lost her and won't forget how they were done wrong. In Between, Georgia, population 90, a feud that began the night Nonny was born is escalating, and a random act of violence is about to ignite decades of family secrets.

Joshilyn's voice is endearing both literally and audibly. I listened to this story of dysfunctional families to the nth power and found Beteewn, Georgia to be nightmarish and dreamy simultaneously. Nonny learns thoughtful lessons from a blind and deaf mother that aid her in becoming the shining light for both oddball families the Fretts and the Crabtrees.

I loved this book - listened to it on CD as read by the author and was so sad to have it end that I even listened to the credits. Excellent, excellent characters.
