This was an engaging novel about a teenager with temporary amnesia and how she chooses between being who she was and who she can be. Overall I liked it, but I felt the last 1/3 was entirely too rushed and ending the book at 300 pages wasn't doing the story and characters justice.

I loved the setup of this book, and it started out really well, but I think in the end it fell short of its potential. Some of the questions from the beginning -- hello, incipient anorexia? mean girl in training? -- were left unanswered. Also, Naomi's relationship with James was both too angsty and not angsty enough. So in the end, the thing I wanted to have happen happened, but I wasn't satisfied by it. Still, an interesting book and a good read.

Confusing at some parts but all in all it was a good book

Okay. Let me be completely honest with you. There are some things that I did in fact like about this book, but also many, many things that I, well, let's just say some things that was completely dissapointed with. Honestly, I did like the main character and the idea that she could not remember four whole years of her life. And that she wants her old life back but she can never really have it back, you know? And although I did like some major parts of the book, overall I just didn't like it very much. Here are some reasons why; The love interest. It was just .. Awful. Ace, her old boyfriend, is a total jerk. And the guy she's currently "in love" with is just plain stupid, and whiny, and idiotic. Also the ending absolutely horrified me. I mean, there was no real closeure! Nothing worse than ending off a book with a bad ending. So to speak, I'd have to say this book was just alright, but not amazing. So if you decide to read this book, it might just "wow" you, but probably not. Anyways, happy reading, haha! :)

i actually thought this book was particularly boring. From the back, i got that it was going to be an amazing adventure about this girl trying to get her memory back, but sadly... no. It is one of those kind of books that makes you feel funny and awkward after you read it. :/

This was the first book I read by Gabrielle Zevin, and it was good, but not spectacular. The main character, Naomi, falls of the steps of her school and ends up in a hospital with amnesia. She tries to rediscover herself through what she has left behind from her almost "previous" life and realizes the shallow lifestyle she has been carrying along for the sake of moderate popularity. She turns her life around, starting with her music-geek, best friend Will and takes a chance at love with a bad-boy at her school. Eventually, she regains her memory and is able to piece her life back together the way she wants, something that would not have been possible had this amnesia not happened at all. The book didn't have satisfying closure, but it was a nice read.

Interesting concept - what would happen if you had an accident that resulted in amnesia? It wasn't a spectacular book but a perfect read for a quiet rainy day.

it wasn't a horrible book but it wasn't good either. I don't recommend.

I liked the main character Naomi in the beginning but not in the middle then I liked her in the end again. Overall a good book.

This book starts with Naomi waking up after an accident that has wiped out the last four years of her memory. She can't remember her parents' divorce, her best friend Will, or her boyfriend Ace, and she can't even really remember herself. When did she become the kind of person who keeps a compulsive food diary, who dates a jock, who hangs out with the mean popular girls? Will Naomi be able to discover who she is again?

After retrieving the camera from the Yearbook room, Naomi takes a nasty fall down the steps that leads to her amnesia. Naomi is forced to reassess her "previous" life, and start anew. Her music-geek friend Will, a bad-boy turned boyfriend, and her previously estranged mother are all there to help Naomi rediscover herself along the way. Naomi learns to forgive and forget, but realizes that there are some parts of the past she needs to remember as she embarks on her future.
