It's the day of the big rocket launch, but the professor can't decide who should fly the rocket: Patrick the monkey or Q-bert the robot. So he devises a series of clever tests to determine who's the smartest. In the building-block competition, Q-bert builds a pyramid while Patrick attempts to eat the blocks. And so it goes, test after test. Naturally, Q-bert wins hands down, but Patrick, certain he's the best monkey for the job, makes a last-ditch, all-out effort toreach the launch padbefore Q-bert blasts off. . . Quirky humor, visual puns, and bold illustrations are designed especially to appeal to young boys.

The story is silly and fun but all the characters (including the monkey) are male. All the people are white. It would not have been difficult to add diversity to this cast of characters in such a simple story.
