Gail Vaz-Oxlade's brand of money management isn't full of tricks. There's no hidden agenda. There's no mystery. As Gail says, "Money isn't rocket science -- it's discipline." Gail has made it her life's mission to make money management something everyone can do. And she won't take no for an answer. Hers is a style that's unique, with a voice that is demanding, and an approach that is holistic. Debt-Free Forever will help readers take responsibility for, and control of, their money. Gail's rules are simple: you can't spend money you don't have, you must save something, and if you're in debt, you must get the albatross off your back. But Gail knows following the rules can be tough. That's why Debt-Free Forever gives you a road map to getting out of the red in 36 months or less. By following Vaz-Oxlade's detailed plans and drawing on her unflagging faith in people's ability to take control, readers will reach the right destination: a debt-free life. Don't buy this book if you're a wuss. Don't buy this book if you're a whiner. Don't buy this book if you hate the idea of doing whatever it takes -- no matter how hard -- to get out of the mess you made. This book will make you squirm. This book may make you cry. This book is the way to move from the crappy place you are now to a wonderful life where you are in control. --From Debt-Free Forever

I think I have read one too many books by Gail Vaz-Oxlade this year. I have had more than my fair share of personal finance books in the last few months and I think this one may be my last for a while. While DEBT-FREE FOREVER has some terrific information on budgeting, including substantial appendices to assist those new to tracking their spending, I still feel that a great deal of what is written here is a rehash of what Gail has said in her other books. All of the information is valuable, but, for me, it's nothing new. For anyone new to budgeting, this book is a fantastic read, one that I highly recommend, but if you're thrifty like me, this book will be a huge waste of time.

Great easy to read and most importantly REALISTIC approach to becoming debt free. Compliments her television show and show's you how you can be debt free too. I have implemented her approach and am well on my way. Gail makes you think twice about your current spending in order to be prepared for the future. She doesn't sugar coat a thing, but doens't make you feel guilty about how you may have ended up in debt either, and gives you realistic ways to fix it. Easy to implement in your day to day life if YOU have the motivation to do so.

If you've ever watched Gail's show "Til Debt Do Us Part", you'll know what you're getting here. Straightforward, "no bull" advice which although may be difficult to follow at all times, will be good for you if you do. This book includes a lot of advice I wish someone had told me 25 years ago. Recommended.

I thought this book had some very good and practical advice. I recommend reading it to those people who have trouble managing their money. I did however find that the book was largely targeted towards overconsumers, and "shopaholics". I do agree that she has some great methods for developing better money managing skills, but I find it hard to relate to some of the things she talks about.

Best book for reducing and getting rid of your debt. I read it this time last year, followed the steps and now I am debt-free. Very straight forward, no mumbo jumbo and easy to follow. As previous poster said, a must buy and then share it with your friends & family.

The same information provided on her show on tv. If you haven't seen that show and want to know how to get out of debt this book is for you.
