There have been so many recreations of the events of World War II. "Victory at Sea" is the actual war footage of such events as the bombing of Pearl Harbour, Hitler's blitzkrieg on England and Japan's final surrender on the U.S. Battleship Missouri. Over 60 million feet of film was reviewed to make this documentary. Composer Richard Rodgers wrote a soundtrack to the war that captures what your seeing on the screen. It would become the soundtrack to a television series entitled "Victory at Sea". The camera work is amazingly good considering the cameramen were in the middle of battle. The series even obtain enemy film footage to complete the series. It is an amazing accomplishment in both winning the war and documenting it for generations to come. Everyone should watch this to see what our Grandfathers and Fathers went through to keep our freedoms alive.
"Victory at Sea" is a great tribute to the men and women who fought so bravely for the country. Thanks Dad for your contribution in the U.S. Navy. I am very proud of all of you!
