A comprehensive look at the Coast Salish history of working with wool, from goat hair and dog wool blankets through to the phenomena that is the Cowichan Sweater. At the same time it sheds a light on the culture of the Coast Salish people from pre-European contact to modern day, highlighting the wealth and status that blanket weaving afforded the women, and how that almost became lost after European contact. This is a great reference book, with invaluable photographs depicting the work of ancient and modern wool workers on the BC Coast.
