Don't know how factual it was but it was good. Would make good family movie. It is sad to see how the USA treated native people.

It's a good movie, I don't know how factual, but too many scenes were badly paced and the accumulated effect was that the movie dragged on and on. That did not need to cut out scenes but to speed scenes up.

The movie was slow compared to several of the novels i have read regarding her beautiful story.

This movie has lovely settings, costumes and production values, yet something was lacking. I've read several books about Kaiulani and was very moved by her story. In the film, it was more difficult to feel connected to her character. I'm all for romance, but those scenes just didn't work for me (the kissing scenes seemed to go on far too long). I think the film's heart was in the right place, but their attempt to incorporate the tragic history of Hawaii into the action made the movie too episodic and veered off from the true story too much. The special features were actually more interesting to me than the movie itself. Overall, it just lacked the emotional involvement I've felt in other movies based on a real person, such as Amazing Grace.

Wonderful movie. Very sad ending, but very interesting too; I learned alot I never knew about the history of Hawaii. Be sure to watch the Bonus Features for the full story of Kaiulani.
