Science Fair Season tells the real life stories of twelve kids competing in Science Fairs, meant to serve as an inspiration to anyone, that no matter you're age, "Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is." The kids in this book go through their own challenges to get where they were and from past experience I know science fairs are anything but "a walk in the park". I did find some of the chapters to focus far too much on their personal lives. Yes this is necessary to their overall story, but at some points it seemed to drag on, leaving the actual project explained very little. 3 Stars

Dutton tells the story of ISEF in an enticing and inspiring way. She chooses multiple students from various backgrounds, each with outstanding ideas and innovations. This is definitely for anyone who feels passionate, or at least has some interest, in the STEM fields.

Really a unique book in the category of teenaged student endeavors! A ten star book! What an incredible book! Ms. Dutton knows how to portray the grittiness of real life, while profiling real genius - - and achievement! A /// profiles in courage \\\; this most certainly is! Be sure to have some Kleenex or tissues nearby, sometimes an emotional rollercoaster. [A complementary book to read, on a similar level, is Joshua Davis' book, Spare Parts.]
