The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Reves , and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway--a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love--a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus per-formers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

Written in rich, seductive prose, this spell-casting novel is a feast for the senses and the heart.

I was immediately sucked into the twisty, windy road of this story. It was fantastical, impractical, magical and heartfelt. I almost felt myself holding my breath at the end, I was so enthralled with the lush characters and settings.

"The Circus arrives without warning."

This is my favorite book, despite being a firm believer in not choosing favorites. Adventure, mystery, romance; a little bit of everything.

The audiobook is *Fabulous* too! Jim Dale is the best!

While the written novel is probably quiet good, I found the audiobook to be rather distracting. The narrator makes all the characters sound like old men, even the young women. I realize that it is difficult for one narrator to accomplish much in the way of different voices, but other audiobooks I've listened to seem to do a better job. Plus it is much harder to keep track of the timeline of a book that jumps forward & backward in the narrative without being able to flip back to a previous section to see what time it was being talking about previously.

Haunting and exciting. Beautifully written. I couldn't stop listening to this, and I cannot WAIT for the author to release her second novel!

This book is reading outside the box for me. It was recommended by a friend, so I gave it a try. I liked the story line and the characters more than I expected. The ending, however, was disappointing for me. I did not see the "passing on" of the circus to a new lovable person as a "gift". Mild recommendation. Kristi & Abby Tabby

Wonderful audio book reading by Jim Dale. His ability is perfect for the many unusual characters and atmospheric settings. Be careful listening to it while driving; it can hypnotize you!

The book itself is a wonderfully written fantasy about a circus that is only open at night and about the magical contest taking place between two users of magic -- who don't even know what the contest is. Some of the chapters have a Ray Bradbury feel.

You know, this would have been good if the book actually got to the point a lot earlier! Jeezzz!! Im over it! I am very grateful that I was able to get this from the library so I didn't waste my money. Just my opinion. There are a lot of people out there who loved it but it just didn't work for me. I was bored to death!

A delightfully woven fantastic tale.

This book is total escapism, and the audio version is well narrated by a fellow with a mellow voice and an ability to carry off the different characters distinctly without being overwraught. I told my coworkers that if Harry Potter and Robert Goolrick's *The Good Wife* had a magical book baby for adults, this would be it. Atmospheric, dramatic and richly imagined, this book is the perfect go-to for anyone who needs a break from the news. Honestly, I could roll in it, it's so good. Pure commute candy.

You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone's soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose. That tale will move them and drive them and who knows that they might do because of it, because of your words. That is your role, your gift.
