Lisa Gardner is a fantastic mystery writer. Couldn't put this book down and never came close to figuring out the end.

Another good story by Gardner, but another one on her "way to much detail" list, too. (Why is word count more important that quality?) I found myself skipping paragraphs, and on occasion full pages. (Really, a full page on morning sickness? --not a spoiler as readers know as soon as D.D. is introduced, and actually knew was coming from when they read the previous book--How many paragraphs of "the smell of meat gags me" do we need to have? How many times are readers willing to stop the story so Gardner can throw in some random facts about tangential elements that have no bearing on the outcome?)
Excellent story bogged down by at least 60 pages of extraneous dog poo. Read this, but be prepared to skim on occasion.

This was the second book I've read by Lisa Gardner in as many weeks. Both were thoroughly enjoyable and suspenseful.

To be honest, I don't particularly care much about the Detective Warren's ongoing story. Nothing wrong with the character, but I read mystery novels for the mystery. And Gardner does mystery very well. This was a page turner full of twists and turns and I finished it in two nights. Would have read it in one sitting had that been an option. I definitely plan to read more of her books.

I've gotten a little behind on my Lisa Gardner series, so playing catch up. This was a really good installment in the DD Warren series and the first book with Tessa Leoni. Alternating chapters from DD and Tessa are both good. DD investigating the crime and Tessa giving the background to what happened. Tessa being a bit of an unreliable narrator keeps you guessing as to what really happened. Pulled me in from the first page. Lisa Gardner is one of the best in the crime/mystery genre.

I usually do not read detective stories but I really enjoyed this book.
Det. D.D. Warren and her partner in crime were fascinating characters.
A great story of passion & crime and a great ending. I will definitely be reading more of her novels as long as there is not to much tragedy in the story line. I finish reading this book in Sept 2017. Written 2011

I think the story was interesting enough, which kept me reading.
The thing I didn't like about the book was 7/8 of the way through the book the author leads you down a single storyline and then bam! Out of the blue, it changes and DD Warren and Bobby suddenly have the light turned on and follow a different angle.
I really didn't care for DD Warren; she was way too brash, and Bobby was way too passive.
But....I gave it 3 stars because it made for an interesting read.
