Named one of Time's top 100 Best Young Adult Books of All Time!

"...A rarity: a first-love story so well remembered and honest that it reminds you what falling in love feels like. ...achingly beautiful." - Time magazine

A brand-new, hardcover edition, re-sized and with a new cover! Wrapped in the landscape of a blustery Wisconsin winter, Blankets explores the sibling rivalry of two brothers growing up in the isolated country, and the budding romance of two coming-of-age lovers. A tale of security and discovery, of playfulness and tragedy, of a fall from grace and the origins of faith. A profound and utterly beautiful work from Craig Thompson.

At 592 pages, Blankets may well be the single largest graphic novel ever published without being serialized first.

This is a gorgeous book. It's a beautifully-rendered love story, an honest look into an Evangelical family, a story about small-town America, and a book about getting your heart broken for the first time. The illustrations are both sparse and potent. The narrative meanders a bit, then explodes with emotion and pathos, joy and vulnerability. The scenes of the winter landscape match the protagonist's quiet observations and contemplative nature. The 'blanket' theme that runs through the graphic novel is verdant and intelligent. By the end, you will feel differently about your own adolescence. Maybe less alone, maybe less afraid.

A very vivid and emotional coming of age story. Brought up deep feelings and thoughts as it made me reflect on my own life and past. Beautiful artwork in every panel and every page, with many details requiring that you take the time to actually sit and look at the panels. A very enjoyable book.

I first read Blankets a decade ago when I was 19. Being closer to the main characters' age and emotional maturity definitely impacted my reading experience and enthusiasm for Blankets. Years later, it is still a well-done graphic novel that captures young love and the way relationships grow and evolve as people age, but it is not as arresting for me as it once was.

This book is about growing up, coming of age, loneliness, love, family, the passing of time, art and life... all wrapped up in beautiful, subdued yet lavish, flowing, black & white linework. You need to read this!

Such a beautiful coming of age story told in graphic novel format. If you have never tried a graphic novel before, this is a great place to start.

This is a great coming-of-age graphic novel. Craig Thomspon chronicles his own experiences growing up, but mostly tells the story of his first love. He met Raina as a senior in high school and helped her while her parents were getting divorced. Craig also had his own journey of discovering his relationship with religion and what that would mean for his own plans after high school. He detailed what these experiences meant for his relationships with his family - from his own perspective and feelings. Very well done - definitely a good read.

A story of family, faith, love, and loss stuck in the middle of a deep Wisconsin winter. Good for fans of family drama TV shows.

The torment of this young man's journey is heavily peppered with biblical quotes and a deep sense of guilt about his own feelings. Too burdened with Christian polemics for me.

A touching and relatable story about first love. This was the first graphic novel I ever read and is still one of my favourites.

“The kingdom of God does not come visibly, nor will people say ‘Here it is’ or There it is’, because the kingdom of God is WITHIN and/or AMONG you.”
