Mike Weiss is a talented young Houston lawyer and a functioning drug addict. Paul Danziger, his longtime friend and partner, is the straight-laced and responsible yin to Mike's yang. Their mom-and-pop personal injury law firm is getting by, but things really get interesting when they decide to take on a case involving Vicky, a local ER nurse, who is pricked by a contaminated needle on the job. As Weiss and Danziger dig deeper into the case, heavyweight attorneys move in on the defense.

Drug addiction is annoying! Could not stand it.

I was unexpectedly and favorably impressed with this film (once I got over the annoyance of its too-loud "music" soundtrack). The script is absolutely gripping, very well acted and produced. Beware: the greed and hypocrisy of Big Pharma knows no limits. This is an important film and deserved wider release and attention.

If you do not know anything about this film, or its subject matter, you will be riveted while you patiently wait to see what the characters will do. Glad I watched it. Worth learning more about the subject matter though. Thank goodness for the attorneys' efforts to bring this story to light. The pacing is slow and the "should we/shouldn't we take the case" stance, and repetitive druggy scenes are distractions that overwhelm this character-driven story at times. The performances by all the leads had layers which is unusual.

I really enjoyed this movie. Didn't realize what it was based on when I checked it out. I have been in the hospital more times than I can count (way more) and remember some of the hospitals switching to these needles, but had no idea of the back story. Even cooler to find out this took place in Houston. I recommend it.

I thought this movie was surprisingly good, considering I had never heard of it, or any of the actors in it. It's a true story, and I thought the plot was compelling. The story line is a little jumpy, but it was easy enough to follow, and there was a main character who was somewhat of an anti-hero.

I guess beautiful people have issues as well. Health care is merely an acronym for greed, sociopath and disgust for human life and those that do 'care.'

The film jumps into the story too fast without much focus on detail so it's more character driven. The problem is the character's are not memorable or even likeable so I didn't care what happened to them and lost interest in the story. The flow seemed to move along too fast as well without really saying much. The jacket of the DVD describes the one lawyer as a "functioning drug addict" but he's depicted as consistently late to meetings, forgets things, etc... Hardly functional. Unfortunately the movie spends much more time on him and his habit than it does revealing the inner workings of how Big Pharma gives kick backs.

An interesting movie, although tedious at times, concerning corporate manipulations of society.
