Released in 1973, The Dark Side Of The Moon (TDSOTM, for short) would be the 8th studio album from British, progressive rockers, Pink Floyd.

TDSOTM is considered by many to be one of the greatest rock albums of all time. It has gone platinum 15 times and upon its initial release remained on Billboard's album chart for 741 solid weeks.

Since its release, TDSOTM has played, significantly, on the direction of modern-day music. With each side of the album beginning and ending with a heartbeat, TDSOTM's thematic lyrics (written by Roger Waters) explore different aspects of the human experience, from empathy, to solitude, to consumerism, to mental illness.

Now more than forty years old, this gem of yesteryear contains ten tracks. Three of my favourites are Breathe, Time, and Us & Them.

we're all getting closer and closer to our deaths, all of the time. Doesn't the song TIME capture this realization? There used to be a local restaurant franchise in San Francisco called ZIMs. The one on 19th Avenue and Tarival Street was where I met my brother one time. On the tables there were mini-jukeboxes. Fed a quarter, they'd play you three songs. One of the songs I played over and over on that occasion was COLORS. the way the guitar ( courtesy no doubt of David Gilmour) interacted in a jazzy fashion intrigued my listening ear, amidst all the change to the city that had gone on. It is important to have an intrigued listening ear. This album just might not be their best, but most certainly, it is their best-selling. On Monday evenings, from 9 to 10, local rock classic station KZOK has a THINK PINK show. 102.5 fm: check it out! actually, it's from ten to eleven. P.S. I was able, later that evening, to call in to the show, and to make a song request, and I got a dedication: "This next song is a request from Alistair on Capitol Hill." He played YOUR POSSIBLE PASTS, from THE FINAL CUT. Thrilling!!

KCLS patrons have already stated that "Dark Side of the Moon" is "awesome" "gets better every time I listen to it" and "Pink Floyds best album". I can only add that it was on Billboards top 100 album sellers for possibly longer than any other album either before or after it. "Dark Side of the Moon" made Pink Floyd into a world famous rock band. Roger Waters could even later leave the group, and still pack audiences into concert halls anywhere he played. So if you have never heard "Dark Side of the Moon", I can't think of a better album to take out from KCLS!

Hello, darlings - What could I possibly say about "Dark Side of the Moon" that hasn't already been said about a thousand times before?

Fantastic album with great songs. Lot of people don't know that if you play this album with the 40th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz you will be amazed. How in the world did this happen. I've tried it and believe me it works. It go's along with the movie. Awesome!.

Well, darlings - I do like this one album from Pink Floyd. It's very psychedelic.

(*Lyrics excerpt*) - "All you touch.... And all you see.... Is all your life will ever be."

And now, 42 years after its initial, 1973 release - What could I possibly say about Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" that hasn't already been said about a 1000 times before?

With its lyrics containing themes that pertain to the likes of conflict, greed, death and mental illness, this phenomenally popular album of Pink Floyd's has not only sold over 50 million copies (worldwide), making it one of the best selling records of all time, but it also remained on Billboard's record chart for 14 years, straight.

To say that this one album, alone, made the members of Pink Floyd very-very rich, indeed, would truly be an understatement. I mean, it, literally, catapulted these British blokes into mega-stardom, overnight. And, that's no exaggeration.

(*Additional lyrics excerpt*) - "For long you live and high you fly.... But only if you ride the tide..... And balanced on the biggest wave.... You race toward an early grave."
