When Kidd -- artist, computer whiz, and professional criminal--learns of a colleague's murder, he doesn't buy the official story: that a jittery security guard caught the hacker raiding the files of a high-tech Texas corporation. It's not what his friend was looking for that got him killed. It's what he already knew. For Kidd and LuEllen, infiltrating the firm is the first move. Discovering the secrets of its devious entrepreneur is the next. But it's more than a secret -- it's a conspiracy. And it's landed Kidd and LuEllen in the cross-hairs of an unknown assassin hellbent on conning the life out of the ultimate con artists...

Not the best of the Kidd books. The nebulous world of hackers and sort of the intro to the dark web is different than the bloodier Prey books. Thieves and hackers together does have a sort of zing to it!

Kidd & LuEllen #3. Kidd is a computer whiz with a healthy mistrust of the law. When his friend goes missing and he and LuEllen are the focus of a manhunt, Kidd has to find the people who took his friend and are now targeting him.

My second favorite in the series...I love the characters Kidd and Luelen. It's a very unique series that I wish Sandford would spend more time on.

Slow moving. Kidd is overly thorough in this novel. Not Sandford's best.
