Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor had one of the most fascinating, glamorous and tempestuous relationships of the 20th century - the two most famous movie stars of their day who played out every high and low of their love affairs, multiple marriages and divorces right in the public eye. The movie follows their private and public relationship played out against their ill-fated appearance in a 1983 revival of Noel Coward's stage play. Tempestuous, funny, and dripping with diamonds.

I could not finish this boring flop. Liz and Richard were interesting people but not in this boondoggle. Over rated.

Technically a fine movie and well acted but not as compelling as one might imagine.

Not impressed at all. Found it extremely boring.

Not a very thrilling movie but Helena Bonham Carter does a spot-on Liz Taylor even though she looks nothing like her.

I loved Liz Taylor, I read all the magazines about her and thought she was so beautiful, of course I was a teenager then. This movie was boring! The dialogue dragged, it just did not hold any interest for me. Did not finish watching this film.

Terrible. Don't waste your time.

Burton and Taylor is a good (but not great) dramatization of two of show biz's biggest divas. The acting is solid, but the script needed some work to take it to the four-star level, in my opinion.

Interesting bio-pic. Both West and Bonham-Carter give great performances and have good chemistry.

Essentially just a trashy behind the scenes TV movie about Hollywood's most tumultous couple, Burton and Taylor doesn't really try and be anything but that and perhaps that why I enjoyed it as much as I did. It's not reaching for any higher ambition, and really only wants to show the relationship between these two stars and, I felt, succeeds. The performances are sketchy at times, but work best in the quiet moments of interaction between the two, where both Cooper and Bonham Carter capture the everlasting bond between these two actors. It's a trashy watch, but not an unenjoyable one.

Not at all what I was expecting, but it was superb. Was a very sad commentary on the state of Liz (lonely and desperate to get Richard back) and Burton torn over loyalties and love, trying hard to move forward, humiliated by Liz's fame, and systematically being seduced back into booze and addiction by the pathetic, stuck in the past, Taylor.

Richard Burton: "...We're addicts, Elizabeth. You and I." Elizabeth Taylor: "What?" Richard Burton: "It's what 'King Lear's' all about; it's why I wanna do it so much. About the need we all have for drugs of... one kind or another... without which we crumble." Elizabeth Taylor: "What drugs?" Richard Burton: "Kinship, power... love." Elizabeth Taylor: "Love is not a drug!" Richard Burton: "Isn't it? I don't know... You can have too much... Until just a sip... takes you beyond, and ravages you..."
