A"diabolically good" hacker puts a message on the pope's computer, pleading for him to save a seventeenth-century Spanish church--a church that is killing to defend itself.Although Our Lady of the Tears is but a crumbling baroque building in the heart of Seville, it is also the center of a multilayered mystery--one that will force ecclesiastical sleuth Father Lorenzo Quart to question his loyalty, his vow of chastity, and his faith itself.

This was a book club selection; I don't think I would have ever chosen it to read by myself. It is a translation which I usually find a bit hazy in places due to some words and nuances just not able to be translated. The story takes places in Seville with a Catholic priest being the main protagonist. I found it somewhat too Catholic for my taste. An interesting twist at the end!

A computer hacker gains access to the Pope's private network inside the Vatican and threatens violence over the closure of a small village church in Seville. High level intrigue and political scheming -- a riveting read.

This was really interesting and had some wonderful twists and turns. The only thing that I had trouble with was the Spanish. The names, the streets and places are in spanish since it takes place in Seville, and my spanish is terrible. This normally wouldn't be a problem only that he is a very descritive writers. So this is really a mix between 3.5 and 4.
