In a ruined and toxic landscape, a community exists in a giant silo underground, hundreds of stories deep. There, men and women live in a society full of regulations they believe are meant to protect them. Sheriff Holston, who has unwaveringly upheld the silo's rules for years, unexpectedly breaks the greatest taboo of all: He asks to go outside. His fateful decision unleashes a drastic series of events. An unlikely candidate is appointed to replace him: Juliette, a mechanic with no training in law, whose special knack is fixing machines. Now Juliette is about to be entrusted with fixing her silo, and she will soon learn just how badly her world is broken. The silo is about to confront what its history has only hinted about and its inhabitants have never dared to whisper. Uprising.

The graphic novel version of Wool comes across as if it were trying to copy the style of the Snowpiercer graphic novels. The pencil art manages to convey the depressed and mysterious atmosphere of the books well enough. The coloring was well done, though it relies heavily on the blue/orange color scheme that so many action movies and television shows now adhere to. Sadly, the overall story doesn't do the original book justice. The pacing of the comic is uneven, in contrast to the faster pace of the book. As other reviewers have mentioned, the ending was also changed and is much less satisfying than the book's ending. If you are a diehard Wool series fan and can't get enough of the Silo's, you might enjoy this more than someone who isn't familiar with Hugh Howey's trilogy.

If there was list of novels least likely to be a graphic novel, Wool would probably be near the top. Almost completely internal dialog, it translates poorly to the graphic novel format. Even worse, the ending of the novel is changed, pointlessly.
