"Chef" is a lovely little movie. It's entertaining, funny, and a heartwarming story. Jon Favreau plays a chef who leaves the gourmet restaurant world to run a food truck. It's beautifully filmed, especially the cooking scenes. Do not watch this hungry!

Heartwarming and hunger-inducing, this is an endearing story about a very human chef who starts a food truck on the heels of professional and personal humiliation, and ends up finding more than just a new job. I loved the realism of the characters--especially the main character. People were flawed but trying their best, and I fell in love with the family in this movie.

"Trite and disappointing": the first words that come to mind regarding this movie. Lots of people enjoyed it, but it wasn't for me. If you're on the fence about this one: hop over to the other side.

Thoroughly enjoyable! A highly wound chef has a major meltdown that not only gets posted on the Internet, but leads to his firing and a road trip to recapture his dreams. This movie provides a rare example of healthy male bonding over friendship, family, food, and passing on life skills to another generation. His unfamiliarity with Twitter/social media provides some very funny moments. Emjay Anthony does a great job of playing his estranged 10-year old son, who slowly comes to trust his father again. John Leguizamo, as his best friend, channels the best of Cuban culture and true-blue friendship. Minor disappointment in Sofia Vergara, whose character doesn’t get fully developed. P.S. Do not watch this film if you're hungry: food plays a major and delicious role.

This film clearly shows us that there is entertainment value in a movie that is not based on blood, guts, gore, violence and sex. The story, the acting, the passion and the pace of the film are perfect. Together they allowed me to pause and simply enjoy the film. Go ahead and watch this film with your kids, they might just know more than you think they do!

An intriguing passion project about -- duh! -- a chef who loves food and treats it with a sense of artistry, CHEF did not disappoint. A quadruple threat as writer/director/producer/star, Jon Favreau crafted a brilliant film, a remarkable little-known gem that spoke to me. It's filled with a raw sense of reality. I can't emphasize that enough. CHEF is based in the world we live in now; absolutely everything feels authentic. His ten-year-old son and his ex-wife aren't caricatures; they are genuine people who feel and express and suppress. His cooking crew are genuine; their loyalty doesn't rely on them agreeing with everything the chef says. Creativity is expressed absolutely here; the world is different than what it once was and traditional ambitions can be thrown aside to make way for the new happiness. Now, I don't want to spoil this film and thus I won't. Not knowing anything about CHEF only enhances the story as it unfolds. I really hope others see this film; simply put, it's great. I highly recommend CHEF.

Fun movie! Yeah, you probably want to have some food available while you watch it! A little too happy-ever-after is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.

Riva: Look, if you bought Stones tickets and Jagger didn't play Satisfaction, how would you feel? Would you be happy?
Carl: No.
