"As a woman, aspiring sculptor Camille Claudel has plenty of critics, especially her ultra-traditional mother. But when Auguste Rodin makes Camille his apprentice -- and his muse -- their passion inspires groundbreaking works. Yet Camille's success is overshadowed by her lover's rising star, and her obsessions cross the line into madness. Rodin's Lover brings to life the volatile love affair between one of the era's greatest artists and a woman entwined in a tragic dilemma she cannot escape"--Provided by publisher.

Loud, arrogant, pretentious, unconventional. Talented, ambitious, passionate, consumed. These can all be words to describe the multi-dimensional character Camille Claudel which plays the lead role in Heather Webb's "Rodin's Lover". Forced to prove her worth in the male-dominated art world of late 19th-century Paris, Claudel works relentlessly to win approval not only from her peers but from her tutor Auguste Rodin. After becoming his lover, Claudel slowly begins to loose herself to mental illness and becomes more and more paranoid that she will never be accepted for the great sculptor and artist that she truly is.
