I know only that I didn't need to reach with my bare hands anymore. That seeing the fish beneath the surface was enough. That it was everything. My life -like all lives- mysterious, irrevocable and sacred, so very close, so very present, so very belonging to me. How wild it was, to let it be.

I've always been someone's daughter or mother or wife. I never got to be in the driver's seat of my own life.

In the wake of her death, my stepfather morphed from the person I considered my dad into a man I only occasionally recognized. Wild stars Reese Witherspoon as Cheryl Strayed, a woman that decides to walk a 1,100-mile hike alone on the Pacific Crest Trail on her journey to self discovery and healing after tragedy. Compared to the autobiographical book it portrays the events well and Reese Witherspoon was a great casting choice as well as Laura Dern who played Cheryl's mother. This movie can definitely be enjoyed by both readers of the book and lovers of good films.
Interesting, but not quite believable story. Lots of hardships and just a little loving.
My partner and I have been inspired to walk the PCT too after watching this movie (scenes of the movie is actually filmed on the beautiful PCT itself). We're now in full preparation :)
She had the balls to face her fears, and even more challenging, herself.
Less judge, more Love.
Meh. Book was way better.
I liked the book, although I got tired of the constant drugs and sex in unsafe circumstances, and felt the author positively wallowed in grief about her mother. So my expectations about the movie were low. That can be a good thing; in this case, it was. Expecting little, I thought it did a good job with the material. I'm glad I watched it.
Great scenery .... lots of melodrama and poor inadequate little girl being rescued by experienced male hikers. Couldn't wait for this movie to end.
Really boring movie! But some good scenery! Got to see Reese Witherspoon tits and ass too!
I didn't have a high expectation on this movie because Reese supposed to be this Legally Blonde person who's just comical. She's a good actress because I expected her to play her Rom Com usual self and she didn't do that.
Its a story about finding yourself and forgiveness. The hiking scene is just great. Living in CA and didn't hike this trail is such a waste. This is one of my favorite Reese movie, very unexpected.
I did not care for the book at all and the movie was about what I expected. Nice scenery though, but the story line is jacked up. I would recommend it if you are just looking for something new to watch.
Read the book - Cheryl Strayed has so much that sadly cannot transfer to the big screen. This was well done, but youll be left craving more.
