Nothing brings anime artists more satisfaction than creating original characters to use in a comic strip or graphic novel. Bestselling how-to-draw author Christopher Hart helps them reach this goal by providing insight into the six most popular anime types: schoolgirls, schoolboys, preteens, vengeful bad guys, humorous personalities, and fantasy figures. He supplies templates for each; an extensive array of "menus" of head and body types, outfits, and accessories, and detailed, accessible, step-by-step demonstrations and drawing exercises. Plus, Hart showcases some of the best anime artists in the world for this title--including Inma R., Tabby Kink, Ayame Shiroi, Euro Pinku, and Tina Francisco. It's the guide every would-be anime artist has been looking for!

This is quite a good guide on drawing characters, scenery (though not as detailed as I would have liked), body positions (these were quite good; the basic body structure was seemingly easy to follow), some character designs, and etc. The villain section was not a good as I had hoped, as well as the "Humor in Anime"section. I really liked the "Preteen". That section was fabulous, giving wonderful information on personalities and what those characters features might be, etc. and I also quite liked the "School Girl" section.

I am a huge fan of Christopher Hart's work and this is a great book for those who want to start drawing anime/manga but for those that have EXP in drawing this stuff it's not the greatest help.
The templates are good, I never use templates unless it's for one of my OCs that I draw and I only use templates for costume design.
I sugest this book to beginners and to those who are a Hart fan.

Although this book does have information about anime, it's basic at best. It's useful as a starter, but not as great as it appears to be.
