I found this story an easy read. With the mystery element involved it kept the pace going and my interest up. Ok a little dumbed-down but still great read for me. I haven't read any of this authors books before.

Set around the time of the Coronation, Lesley Pearse gives an insightful portrayal of the people and places through some very traumatic events in an England still suffering the aftermath of WWII. Essentially, the book is about the power of love, friendship and tenacity.

This murder mystery/romance is different from Lesley Pearse's usual style. I wonder if she wrote it, or employed someone to write it for her. The writing seems to be dumbed-down, and some aspects of the plot are hard to believe. For example, romance with the love of a person's life doesn't work out so the person latches on to another and immediately is deeply in love and wants to marry. Another example, someone hits someone else over the head with an axe but no charges are laid because the person had taken sedatives. The book is unnecessarily long too.
I am disappointed and am unsure whether to read any more of the author's books. These days there are so many better books to read.
