I really liked this book, but the first one was alot better! And even though this one ended on a cliff-hanger I thought that the ending of the first book was better aswell. But I really liked this book and it's ALOT better then some other books i've read!

I didn't jump right into this book after I finished Uglies because I wasn't sure if I really wanted to continue on with it. But every time I saw it sitting there I just thought I mine as well read it. I was actually surprised with this sequel. I really wasn't expecting it to be that good but I found myself getting quite attached. We join Tally as a pretty in the sequel, something she's always wanted to be when she was an ugly. But now that she is a pretty, she's not enjoying it as much as she thought she would. Here's what surprised me: You don't hear from David until near the end. But during the main duration of the book, Tally surprisingly gets a boyfriend named Zane, who in my opinion, I like better. In the beginning, I was very weary of him. But I found he's just so much more like Tally I found and the way the author described him, I fell in love with his character. There was a lot more action in this book then I found in the last which I loved. I also liked how we actually got to see how a pretty mind thinks and see their kind of slang with words like; Bogus and bubbly. The ending was great and now I do want to pick up the third and final book. So overall, I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

My friend got me the uglies and pretties book for my birthday and I read the uglies and really liked it but I didn't expect the second book to be as good. It was way better than I expected. Just like the uglies book, I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Complete non-stop action, if you like futuristic, dystopia, action, read this book! I absolutely love this series, and it's one that will make you want to hunt the author down, haha just kidding . . . maybe. But seriously there are so many twists and turns I couldn't stop reading.

I think this sequel to "Uglies" is almost better than the first. Action packed and full of thrills, the twist at the end has me waiting very impatiently for the next one.

This is an interesting follow-up to Uglies, which I remember enjoying despite a bit of an unbelievable premise. This volume brings up some deep questions about identity, as Tally begins the book with lesions on her brain, missing most of her memories about what happened in the previous book. When she finds the truth, she wonders if the surgery has transformed her into a different person. It's an exciting book, a good pick for reluctant readers since something is happening in almost every chapter.

Prettiest was an amazing follow up to Uglies. Normally, the second book isn't as good as the first, but this book was packed with the same action and romance, and the blood curling cliff hanger at the end. I completely enjoyed this book.

This YA novel was so interesting to read. It satisfyingly quenched my thirst for seeing what is was like to be a pretty. It was also fun to learn all of the new pretty lingo and get a peak at what their parties are like. Additionally, I love the cover art of this series! The legs with the surgical marks is genius! I know you're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but an interesting cover really draws you in.

If I had to choose one con about this book, it would probably be that Tally didn't stay in the New Smoke for long. I was so curious to see what it would be like, but once she got there the specials just took her away again. It also kind of bothers me how David didn't really put up a fight for Tally. It's like he didn't really care that she chose Zane when David was gone. I mean, I know he put up a little fight at the end when Tally wanted to wait for the Specials with Zane, but it seemed like he was just trying to save her life, he wasn't actually doing it because he wanted to be with her and he loved her. And then he left so easily when she insulted him. Couldn't he see through that?

Over all, I highly recommend Prettiest by Scott Westerfeld. An absolutely fascinating work of art.

Pretties picks up where Uglies left off. Tally has been turned pretty and dull-witted. Tally loves the pretty life of partying, drinking, and doing whatever she wants. She has a lot of fun with it, until one day at a costume party, she sees someone in a specials costume, and she starts feeling like something's not right with her world. Together with Zane, another pretty, Tally must track down the clue to her past as an ugly. When she does though, the repercussions of her choices afterward will continue long into the book. As Tally remembers the truth, she tries to figure out a way to help the other pretties and to save herself and Zane as well.

Aug 15, 2011

Tally is now a Perfect, and the only worries that occupy her brain is remaining "bubbly" and getting into the most popular clique in town. Until a letter written by herself in her ugly days turns her world upside down and reveals the horror of the transformation surgery.
