This book made me fall in love with the author. Absolutely will love this series, if you're into romance that is. Though it did have enough action and mystery so as not too mushy.

I didn’t enjoy much. Super predictable and cliche. I hope her other books are better.

Too predictable and uninteresting. Slow-paced and mildly saccharine, it's better for idealists and romantics than it is for me. And that's saying a lot, because I love books, and I don't mind romance.
I'm not saying this wasn't a good book. It an okay book. But it could have been better. I hope Dickerson's other novels are better.

Melanie Dickerson is my favorite author for sure. This book: The Healer's Apprentice is very loosely based on Sleeping beauty. A nice story from the Hagenheim series. It is written in a way that focuses on both Rose and Lord Hamlin's viewpoint. Very interesting to read. I would definitely recommend this book to all.

this was the best book I ever read by Melenie Dickerson, she put Romance, adventure and a thriller all into one book. it was really great and I want to recommend it to you! I figured out that this is the first book in the series. I like how Melenie takes the fairy tales and makes them more interesting for instance this one is Sleeping beauty and it is my favorite one in the series. The romance is cute. I loved every page of it and I encourage you to read it.

A quick, easy and enjoyable read. Dickerson gives us a nice, fleshed out, retelling of Sleeping Beauty. The plot is well written, but still not any major surprises. A nice, clean, Christian romance for those of us who don't care for the smutty details.

Good read. Super sweet. Loved some of the surprises. If you read Melanie Dickerson's books in order it makes more sense. Love these new "princess" style stories.

One of my best friends said this book was better than The Merchant's Daughter, another one of Dickerson's books, which I LOVE AND ADORE with all my heart and soul. So I read this to prove to her that it was NOT better than The Merchant's Daughter. And although I will admit that it was a good book, it's nowhere NEAR as good as The Merchant's Daughter. First off, before reading this book fully, I had tried 2 other times before to read it, and didn't because I could never get caught up in the story. The beginning is REALLY slow, but I kept going until about the middle of the book, which was when it finally got my attention more. I happen to really love Gunther and Hildy, so when I got to that suspenseful part regarding them (which I won't spoil), the book finally won my interest entirely. From then on, it was better. The villain (who I actually figured out was the villain as soon as Dickerson hinted at it, which was TOO soon, and I was a bit upset at her for that) wasn't the best, but he was scary enough to feel for Rose. Lady Salomea was a surprise for me. I know that Dickerson hinted at her identity, but I brushed it off as impossible until I got closer to the end of the book. Also the traditional ending of Sleeping Beauty (you know, true love's kiss) was just sweet. :) Rose and Wilhelm were great together. I loved them as a couple, though in the middle of the book I got a bit annoyed that Wilhelm was gone and Rupert seemed to be winning for a bit there. But, I actually read The Fairest Beauty and The Captive Maiden before this, which deals with Wilhelm and Rose's CHILDREN, so I already knew the ending. But with romances like this, you usually DO know the ending. Anyway, if you like the idea of this story, read it. But go read The Merchant's Daughter after this. Check out my review for that too.
