I do NOT recommend.
I thought this was a historical book relating to traveling the actual Oregon Trail. However, it’s about a modern day history buff trying to relive the 1850 experience. Ok, NOT what I originally thought, but a re-enactment of that journey with the original primitive equipment should be a fun read.
But it’s NOT.
The first 20% of the book has to do with Daddy and something about Pennsylvania (I kept skipping ahead). So, it’s slow to start + I’d prefer to keep politics and prejudices out of my books (cheap shots at everything and everyone that doesn't fit in with the authors mindset. AND who doesn’t like Park Rangers?). I knew I’d had enough when he wanted to bring his shoe shine kit, Brooks Brothers shirts and matching mixing bowls set along with him in the covered wagon...groan.
