I think everyone deserves a fair warning that this book involves main characters with an age gap that is completely inappropriate. Wendy is described as running away from a foster home in order to be with Peter, meaning she is underage, and Peter is described as being twice her age. The story has explicit and violent sex scenes meant to mimic incest, and the ending does not involve this predator coming to any sort of justice from what I can tell. I hate that this book is talked about in such a positive light within the queer community and wished literally anyone had told me it involved pedophilia.

The description pretty much perfectly describes the book, so you should be able to tell pretty easily if you might like it! I will say that there is no magical realism like I thought there might be, and the sex is very glossed over and talked about in very euphemistic terms. The whole story has a very dreamlike quality.
