Monday, 1300 Hours: Joe Ledger kills terrorist Javad Mustapha, aka Patient Zero , with two point-blank shots from his Glock .45.

Wednesday, 0800 Hours: Patient Zero rises from the dead...

When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week, there's either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills... and there's nothing wrong with Joe Ledger's skills. Ledger, a Baltimore detective assigned to a counterterrorism task force, is recruited by the government to lead a new ultrasecret rapid-response group called the Department of Military Sciences (DMS) to help stop a group of terrorists from releasing a dreadful bio-weapon that can turn ordinary people into zombies.

I find that the story was a bit slow to get started, which is not common for Zombie books. Unlike other zombie stories where we are thrown in the apocalypse right away, this story is about a team of agents hired specifically to deal with zombies. Not so much a zombie apocalypse story but more of a top secret team of agent fighting terrorist plans to unleash a zombie plague. I'll definitely read the next Joe Ledger book.

Joe, a cop, was recruited to a special science division of the federal government, designed specially to stop the modern technologically advanced terrorists. This time, if they don't stop them, we are doomed.

I thought this was fantastic and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good action-filled zombie book. The one detraction was a hint of romance that I thought was unnecessary to the story. I'm glad this is only the first in the series as I can't wait to read more about Joe and the zombie plague - I can only imagine it's going to get worse, and therefore more exciting as the books go on.

When I finished reading Jonathan Maberry's series 'Rot and Ruin,' a tween/teen zombie series, I was left hungry for more...the Joe Ledger series satisfies any reader's appetite for suspense, horror and downright 'edge of your seat' fiction. 'Patient Zero' is the first in the series. Joe is recruited to the DMS (Department of Military Science) as a team leader fighting a new terrorist attack. From the book synopsis: 'When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week, there's either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills." I like Joe Ledger a lot and can't wait to read the next in the series.

Zombies AND terrorists? I mean, what's not to love? The action is fast-paced, but the characters are still well developed.

After reading the Dust and Decay series I started this book hoping that it would be as good as the others. I was not disappointed in the least and recommend it to fans of Jonathan Maberry.

This book was my introduction to the works of Jonathan Maberry and to the hero who is Joe Ledger. This book had me from the first line. It was a hypnotic, exciting ride to the last page!

I loved it period. It was a beautiful mix. One part "24" and another the walking dead.... Enjoy! The entire series is perfect!
