"When Sanae Ishida was diagnosed with a chronic illness and lost her corporate job, she thought her life was over. But these challenges ended up being the best thing that ever happened to her because they forced her to take stock of her life and focus on the important things and enabled her to rediscover sewing, her true passion. This is a seasonal book of simple sewing projects and inspirational personal stories from a beloved Seattle blogger. It consists of 20 projects plus variations (including Japanese-inspired home goods, children's and women's clothing) organized by season and stitched together with charming and relatable personal stories about how sewing brought her profound happiness. Part 1 includes the incredibly moving essays as well as a look-book of photos of the projects, and Part 2 includes all the instructions with detailed illustrations. The book is 30% memoir and 70% practical sewing projects."

This turned out to be a very welcoming book and a gentle path to peaceful living, not just another book of sewing projects, by a woman who lost her job but gained her life! Iincludes a very clever grocery bag pattern.

I love everything about this sewing book! Just as the tagline suggests, this book has simple and easy to follow projects that are also very practical. There are beautiful pictures and detailed step-by-step instructions too. This book definitely inspired me to dust off my sewing machine and create a special project!

Her self makeover from constantly trying to be what everyone else wanted, to living a satisfying life that felt right to her was an inspiration. Her writing style is easy and down-to-earth.
