Add a CommentDirected by Robert Zemeckis in 2016, this war-time thriller depicts the mission of a Canadian intelligence officer (Brad Pitt) and his complicated romance with a French Resistance collaborator (Marion Cotillard).
Pitt and Cotillard give excellent performances that feel naturalistic, not overacting in the tradition of melodrama in this situation.
The story looks old but smells new, and the drama appears thrilling, fascinating and enigmatic while keeping me wondering how it ends.
It is a well-crafted entertaining thriller.
I too liked this film and also thought that the acting was well done by the actress (Marion Cotillard). Brad was good and thought that there was chemistry between the two, which made me care for the couple trying to have a normal life working among WW II intelligence.
I loved watching this movie. Good story of a troubled spy who truly fall in love and start a stable life until her past get her back in trouble. i like the acting of Brad Pitt in this movie. one of the best acting film for him.
Loved it! I rarely watch a film in one sitting but I was too into it to stop. Brad still has sexy going for him.
Bias Alert: I have always loved Pitt and Marion Cotillard. Pitt is predictable and safe with his selections of spy/war movies and Cotillard is absolutely gorgeous and talented, so great performances anyways. The romance aspect and the magnificent cinematography all gave the feels that I was watching a classic. Having said that, I just hate how the female is always portrayed as one that is constantly caught between sentiment and logical reasoning. I can understand from Cotillard’s perspective and the very obvious ending makes sense, but I still hate how tragic the love story is made out to be. It was almost too perfect given the circumstances and you can feel doom looming around the corner. I suppose that is why the suspense felt so real, despite guessing what is real and unreal throughout the film.
A very good story, I did not however sense a real attachment between the 2 main characters so in that sense it fell a little short for me, the female lead was superbly acted and was very credible. Enjoyed it immensely.
Ms. Cottilard is equal parts gorgeous and creepy - and that's a good thing as you're never really sure what or who's side she's on until the end of the movie.
A very good movie
Wonderful movie. Good acting, a story that keeps you wondering until the last moment. A war story, love story and a story of suspense. The first part was s bit slow but warmed up later. I plan to watch this again before I return the dvd.
....wow, they don't get any worse than this....what a travesty....Brad's last name is so appropriate to describe this junk....don't bother....
