n the middle of a rock festival, a charity worker is sliced across the stomach. He dies minutes later. In a crowd of thousands, no one saw his attacker. The following week, the body of a primary school teacher is found in a dumpster in an Edinburgh alley, strangled with her own woollen scarf. D.I. Ava Turner and D.I. Luc Callanach have no leads and no motive - until around the city, graffitied on buildings, words appear describing each victim. It's only when they realise the words are being written before rather than after the murders, that they understand the killer is announcing his next victim...and the more innocent the better.

This murder mystery gets quite intense; a page turner as it draws to a close. Readers get to know the 2 DIs very well as the story progresses. While the author begins with a murder scene at a rock concert and another suspicious death in an apartment the following day , she then stalls telling the story as she waits for clues to come in from forensic work and door-to-door-interviews, etc. She has time pass by filling the reader in on her main characters's working relationships, personality, and background. Once character development is well underway, she quickly starts to give her team of detectives clues to follow in order to catch the murderers. This novel, although volume 2 in a series starring her 2 detective inspectors, can be read as a stand alone. It is set in Edinburgh and written by an author who studied law. Plot revolves around the use of the darknet by shady characters.
