the genius of Mr. Burton encounters the limitations of genre. One of the funniest films I've seen, it also has a distinct leftie bias in its humor. Jack tears it up in his scenes as the overwrought President, and.....well, I won't ruin the gags for you. To be able to watch this at home, even if you don't have a 'home theatre,' is a privilege, indeed.

"MARS ATTACKS" has gotten better with time. This star-studded send-up of the 1950s spaceship movie is perhaps more fun now than when it came out. Or, as Oscar Wilde once said, "Nothing exceeds like excess."

Favorite Movie Quote: "Ack-Ack! Ack-Ack! Ack! Ack! ACK! ACK!! ACK!!!"

I thought Mars Attacks was a totally "cool" way for director Tim Burton to annihilate such despicable, big-name stars as Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Jack Black, Sarah Jessica Parker, Glenn Close, Michael J. Fox, and Martin Short (Phew! What a list of all-star casualties, eh?!) - And have a helluva lot of fun doing it.... (I only wish that Burton had also managed to have that annoying flake, Annette Bening, vaporized, as well)

Guaranteed to put a smile on the face of any fan of B-Movie schlock - I found this Sci-Fi/Comedy/Action film from 1996 to be a really uncharacteristic picture from the likes of director Tim Burton.

Even though I thought that Mars Attacks was a fairly satisfying tribute to 1950's UFO movies - I do think that, when it came to bad taste, Burton certainly did push the limits when he had the Martians perform their head-transplanting job, using Poppy, the cute, little, bug-eyed chihuahua, in their awful experiment.

"We come in peace!"_____ Hideous-looking alien-bastards from Mars (vicious, cruel, and deceptive), toting powerful insta-fry ray guns, land on Earth, and after hoodwinking the gullible public into thinking this is a visit of friendship, commence with a horrific attack of mass-destruction, blowing up everything in sight to smithereens._____ Can nothing save Earth from these ugly, little, bubble-headed creeps and their nasty, sadistic destructiveness??_____ Well, little do these menacing Martian-midgets know that we earthlings have a devastating secret weapon all of our own. And it ain't nukes._____ I found this Sci-Fi/Comedy/Action film from 1997 to be quite an uncharacteristic offering from director Tim Burton._____ Presented as a tribute to 1950s UFO movies, Mars Attacks! (with its awesome visual effects) delivers a kooky blend of twisted humor and ultra-violence that, when it works (which is about 70% of the time), is guaranteed to put a smile on the face of any fan of B-Movie schlock.

Ack-Ack, Ack,Ack,Ack!! Translation: Play this movie on your HOMETHEATER. It's not often that i laugh while watching a movie. But this film, and my friend spitting out her wine, had me cracking up a few times. This is a silly science fiction comedy that i enjoyed. The aliens were silly and brutal at the same time. I was very surprised to see so many well known actors and actresses playing in this campy movie. This movie has good all around sound and was fun to watch. I'm giving this movie 4 stars. Funny looking crazy aliens, many celebrities playing goofball characters, good story, and good visual and audio effects. Fried chicken wings, baked potatoes, and sweet potatoe pie.

I thought this movie was very good. It had an all-star cast and an interesting story. I found it to be a bit campy, but in a good way. The Martians were pretty funny, with their "Ack ack ack!" language. I loved how they outwitted the humans at nearly every turn. I really like Jack Nicholson's acting (I always do) but I almost didn't recognize him as Art Land. If you enjoy campy humor, I really recommend this movie.

Coarse Language: There was only mild swearing in this film, and not much of it. Some of the humor was rude.

Violence: The Martians were very violent. Their ray guns vaporized humans. They first turned into skeletons before disappearing completely. There were also shootings, fist fights, impalings, and one character was crushed by a chandelier. Please see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116996/parentalguide for a complete listing of violence (as well as for profanity and sexual warnings.)

Sexual Content: The only sexual content in this film is one brief scene of a man and woman having sex, but no nudity is shown. Sexual innuendo is also present. And finally, one of the characters is very attracted to prostitutes (again, no nudity is shown).
