A few laughs, but very predictable. I loved the 'Jenny Craig' line!

Decent. It had some fun moments.

The Hollars, John Krasinski's directorial debut, is good and worth seeing at least once if you like independent films. Expect a drama with some light moments, rather than a comedy. It succeeded in making me cry. Richard Jenkins and Margo Martindale are two actors who seem to make every film they are in better. There is currently a waiting list for The Hollars at Hennepin County Library. You might consider checking out People, Places, Things and/or The Winning Season while you wait; these movies were written by Jim Strouse, who also wrote The Hollars, and The Winning Season also features Margo Martindale in a small role. The Hollars is rated PG-13 for brief language and some thematic material.

Not my sense of humour, didn't like the first 15 minutes, so quit.

A perfect rainy evening + popcorn + fire in the fireplace + snuggling with your favorite people evening. I laughed, cried and though it was just wonderfully done!

I had been waiting to watch this movie for awhile, and it was pretty good, but I wanted it to be better. Great cast, and good moments. A solid 3.5 stars.

I don't post too many 5 stars, but this deserves it. I laughed so hard at places which I was not sure if I should have, the family dynamics are hilarious, but I am not sure if it is my family of origin that makes it funny; I don't think so. I believe it is a very humourous take with loads of serious moments as well and I believe that many would relate to this family tale.

I appreciated that they did not go over board with the level of disfunction as many Hollywood films do. They are good people and have a realistic degree of issues. The mom gives an amazing performance, it is well written, acted and directed. I strongly reccomend this movie.

I watched this with my hubby and tween kids, and we all really enjoyed it. A very talented cast with great comedic acting managed to wring out laughs even through the tears without being cloying or forced. There are sad moments, but the laughter and sweet surprises sprinkled throughout made this movie enjoyable and rewarding. Such a refreshing change from the string of blockbuster or violent action movies that have been such a big part of my movie diet lately.

Excellent. be sure and watch special features about shaving Margo's head for surgery.
Was a great story line. This could happen to any family. Found this on dashboard, thank you patrons. I am a fan of Richard Jenkins and Anna Kendrick

So, I, uh, looked over your CAT scans. You have a pretty big brain tumor near your frontal lobe.
-Oh, Christ. Jesus Christ!
-Wait. What does that mean, "pretty big"?
It means "big."
"You won't know until you get there that you're okay."
I know there's a number of people here today that are wondering what we're going to do without her.
Well, they say "for better or for worse," right? I can't think of a worse time than now.
"Stop crying. ... You've got a funeral to plan. Don't forget I like orchids."
To be honest, I'm surprised there haven't been more symptoms.
-Would loss of sight in one eye be a symptom?
-Oh, what about, uh, numbness in the toes and fingers?
-And temporary paralysis?
Why wouldn't you get those checked out?
-He sent me to Jenny Craig. ... But I lost six pounds the first week.
