Sam Talbot's 100% Real hits all the marks to qualify as a "trendy new cookbook from an attractive celebrity chef", including:

-Food porn photography that is truly drool worthy
-Gluten free/processed sugar free/clean food/real food emphasis
-Plenty of photos of the author buying artisanal produce at the local farmer's market in casual yet expensive clothing
-Lots of avocado, quinoa and coconut

But, I think this book is still worth checking out, because:

-Step #5 of Sam's "5 Steps to Keeping it Real" at the beginning of the book is "Find the Fun in Food; Don't Be a Judgemental Jerk" and I think Fun and Judgement-Free are two things sorely lacking in modern food culture
-Only about half of the recipes are overly fussy
-There are many ingredients that you might not have at home but they are readily available at local stores - no mail order necessary here.
-The author's emphasis on plant based cooking is evident and this book is great for folks wanting to add some variety to their veggie prep.

Most importantly, Sam is a diabetic, and often folks browsing diabetic cookbooks are forced to settle for medical, sterile, boring choices. The recipes in 100% Real don't have carbohydrate counts so newly diagnosed diabetics might want to try some of the more medical books first. But for diabetic cooks that have been around the block, this book is a breath of fresh air.

Beautiful book! Some great recipes that I am going to try! I had never heard of yuzu juice (called for in one or two recipes) and this weekend I saw it at the store. Definitely going to try the recipes!
