Paterson is a bus driver in the city of Paterson, New Jersey - they share the name. Every day, Paterson adheres to a simple routine: he drives his daily route, observing the city as it drifts across his windshield and overhearing fragments of conversation swirling around him; he writes poetry into a notebook; he walks his dog; he stops in a bar and drinks exactly one beer. He goes home to his wife, Laura. By contrast, Laura's world is ever changing.

A week in the life of some ordinary people - slow, dull, monotonous. The wife and the bartender were the only ones who showed any energy or life. Not worth watching a second time.

If you have a choice between watching this movie or paint dry, choose the latter. Movies should provide escapism, at the least. Who wants to spend 2 hours in someone's enervating world? What a bore, including his poetry.

Simple, charming, makes you feel good movie.

Thoroughly enjoyable.

The busyness of average; the conflict in perceived mundane; a litmus test for lives lived over wrought. I enjoyed getting a feel for a different kind of engagement in life - a boss with family and money troubles, a wife looking for a calling and listening to everything for it, a quiet solitary beer until it isn't - life isn't just a common name's bad joke. It's more under the surface.

A quiet slice of life story that slowly grows on you.

Paterson was a delightfully odd and slow-paced movie about a couple living in Paterson, New Jersey in which its denizens venerate writers who have come from there. I thoroughly enjoyed this offbeat flick.

Poems written by Ron Padgett. Overall, a little self-indulgent.

Love Jarmusch, Love Driver, oooh la la, what a disappointment, so dull.

This is definitely a 'film-fest' movie which I found totally enjoyable. If it were about nothing more than the very funny bull dog, I'd have been happy. However, Adam Driver (who masters every part he's ever played) was just wonderful as a basic nobody in a nondescript town with a lack-luster life. Not sure I'd recommend it for everybody.

Pages of quotes in IMDb. These from Japanese poet among the best in mho:

My poetry only in Japanese. No translation. Poetry in translations is like taking a shower with a raincoat on. ... Sometimes an empty page presents more possibilities.
This one on the very talented bulldog is not in IMDb yet:

Hey, yo! Yo my man, lemme holla at you a minute. Hey yo, that's a English Bulldog, right?
-Uh... yeah.
Yo I told you man, them dogs are poppin' right now. Yah that dog mad expensive, right?
-Yeah, well... expensive to feed.
Yeah, this guy yo... No, I feel ya though, but man, dog like that get jacked.
Ya know what I mean? Like dog-jacked my G. Ya feel me? Ya'll look on that?
-Dog-jacked... Well it gives me somethin' to look forward to then I guess.
Aight money... Hey yo, be safe out here, aight? And cuff that dog, it's real out here bruh.
-Alright. I'm gonna go cuff ya Marvin.
Okay Marvin, don't get dog-jacked.
