Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya, Sicario) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams, Girls), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway in her parent's home upstate. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behaviour as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined.

More than just a standard-issue thriller, this brutal, smart movie is impeccably made, as well as surprising, shocking, and funny, while also offering a compassionate, thoughtful look at race.

You've only got to ask one question- How did the main character get the chair stuffing ( cotton? ) into his ears? The whole film falls apart on this one point ( the answer is that he couldn't possibly have been able to do it - if you watch the movie you'll know why ). Really amateurish to mess up such an obvious and important plot point.
Basically, it's a rip-off of the " Stepford Wives "( 1972 ) with the main theme switched from patriarchal inequality to racial inequality ( with a small twist added to it so it's not a total rip-off ). I thought the main actor Daniel Kaluuya overacted wildly- it was like he was acting in a silent movie from the 1920's his facial movements were so over exaggerated.

Wow!
Very original. Great acting.
Slow to start, but, keeps you guessing.
Watch the comments on the extras, with the
alternative ending. It gives you an insight, into
how clever Jordan Peele, really is.

Predictable. Ordinary. Boring. Tries too hard to make a political statement.

WOW! I have not been that tense and enthralled in a movie like that in a long time! This movie feels like it can happen to anyone, and the overall creepiness and loss of control is just so powerful! I was afraid for the protagonist Chris the entire way! A really well made film that has you gripping your seat!

I hate horror movies so I was having a small anxiety about watching this, but it was incredibly good. Better in the theater but still a must-watch.

This is a horror film, but with a point. We also watched the interviews with the film maker, and it seems he wanted to combine classic horror themes with some other concepts about race that he understood would make people uncomfortable. He said he hoped it would open avenues of conversation. Honestly, the racial themes were extreme, and they bothered me. I feel like we need bi-directional healing in our culture, and I'm not sure whether this film promotes that or sinks back in the wrong direction. In the end, I worry that it promotes a hurtful concept that whites and blacks are really never friends, which is just wrong.

Imagine a "Twilight Zone" episode written by Victor LaValle, James Baldwin and Chris Rock, that's the sense I got from "Get Out". Truly has the spooky, creepy vibe with keen eye for racial topics and the occasional funny quip. Bear in mind, you have to allow suspension of disbelief for some of the science (like Bing producing useful search results). And I found the alternate ending worth watching (left me thinking what was the better choice).

The racial satire part was good, the rest was overdone. Entertaining thriller.
