A poetry collection examining hurt, love, heartbreak, and the healing that comes in the end. Gorgeously done with illustrations throughout. Caution Warnings: Abuse, Sexual Assault, Rape

A heartbreaking testimony of abuse, love and survival. I wish I could give this book more than five stars.

Direct, raw, vulnerable, and brief poems about growing up female and loving as a woman. Highly accessible, passionate, and relatable.

This is a work of art. I have the privilege of owning it, and I cherish it with all of my heart. This book is a window into someone's soul. Rupi Kaur is a vision of strength, resilience and courage. The poems she writes are so vulnerable and real. I urge anyone who is interested in poetry to read this book. Especially the women who are interested in poetry. Make sure to be aware of the topics spoken about in this book, as they may be triggering/harmful to some readers, but overall, this is an incredible book. The last section (The Healing) is my favourite! 5/5 stars

It was hard to return this book. Every page expressed an emotion that the heart can relate to. Words were so heartfelt. So real. So feminine so strong. I could read this book again and again. It's worth the read. Not a dull moment and not once does this makes you lose focus. It's the truth, milk and honey! Smooth and sweet.

While I did not personally relate to every poem in this collection (understandable, right?), I loved reading each of them, even the difficult-to-digest ones. They are straightforward and raw but beautiful at the same time. And the drawings- yes.

I was totally blown away by the depth and scope of the authors narrative....read it in an hour, and have thought of it many times. Though the subjects are painful in many instances, they are communicated in an incredible way.......cannot praise this book enough.....she delivers the messages "the way it is".

Very excited to read this, I've heard great things about it!

Like all great poetry, this collection is at times painful, challenging, trite, and, well, poetic.

All I can say about this is that I wasn't sure how I felt about the overall collection until I came to the end. The author's note to the reader brought me to tears.

ah, unexpected wonders abound in the stacks at the library.

@lorrainejhays I don't think you give teens enough credit in their ability to handle certain topics. As a 16 year old, reading this gave me a lot of insight and gave me clarity in the experiences in my own life. Not all teens are emotionally stunted. Just because it may be diificult for some to stomach doesn't mean that will apply to everyone.
