Another easy likable reading in this series, I enjoyed it once again. The familiar characters are as interesting as ever and their thoughts still full of humorous and challenging insights on the world around them(and us). Edinburgh, the physical city, is once again prominently featured, he has a great way of presenting it to us as an integral part of the story.

Disappointing from this author. I finished the book but can't say I would recommend it.

Why can’t Bertie’s mother be kidnapped again? McCall Smith has created some of my most favorite characters and he’s definitely created the villain I most love to hate. It’s best to read the 44 Scotland Road series from the beginning, so you have an understanding of all the characters. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, hoping that Bertie’s father can learn to stand up for himself.

This episode of the Scotland Street series focuses on the 44 Scotland Street series focuses on St and will have readers familiar with the series on the edge of their seats. McCall Smith again uses his gentle humor and knowledge of human nature to make the lives of ordinary people living ordinary lives supremely entertaining.
