My first Trigiani book was The Shoemakers Wife and it has been the best by far. This one was entertaining enough for listening too while commuting (very good reader). Didn't realize until I started to review that this is the third in a series of Valentine books-perhaps I'll go back and read/listen to the first two.
I did not enjoy this book as much as the other Valentine books. Valentine is just very self absorbed and the story line does not flow for me. Some of her references to Italian Americans have started to become trite and unrealistic.
Cassandra Campbell does an excellent job reading this book and despite her talents I just wanted the story to end! I was surprised at the ending but I think that was just to leave space for her to write the next book. I am sure we haven't heard the last from Valentine!
I love the books about Valentine Roncalli! Adriana Trigiani writes with beautiful realism about life and family.
