THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES  BESTSELLER! From Jay Asher, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Thirteen Reasons Why , comes a holiday romance that will break your heart, but soon have you believing in love again. . . .

"A beautiful story of love and forgiveness."
--Stephen Chbosky, New York Times bestselling author of The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Sierra's family runs a Christmas tree farm in Oregon--it's a bucolic setting for a girl to grow up in, except that every year, they pack up and move to California to set up their Christmas tree lot for the season. So Sierra lives two lives: her life in Oregon and her life at Christmas. And leaving one always means missing the other.

Until this particular Christmas, when Sierra meets Caleb, and one life eclipses the other.

By reputation, Caleb is not your perfect guy: years ago, he made an enormous mistake and has been paying for it ever since. But Sierra sees beyond Caleb's past and becomes determined to help him find forgiveness and, maybe, redemption. As disapproval, misconceptions, and suspicions swirl around them, Caleb and Sierra discover the one thing that transcends all else: true love.

What Light is a love story that's moving and life-affirming and completely unforgettable.

Reminiscent of Romeo and Juliette, this is a beutiful novel with themes of forgiveness, first love and the search for happiness.
Even though it's a Christmas story, a good beach read.

This is ultimately a story about forgiveness and sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself. People continue to judge and exclude Caleb because of his past, but Sierra tries to look past those events. She becomes his champion. Ultimately this was a nice story about forgiveness that takes place during the holiday season. If you are looking for the emotional impact of Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why you won't find it here. Still if you are looking for a sweet holiday romance with a little more depth, you might give this one a try.

The book What Light is a wonderful read for anyone who loves a good holiday romance. The atmosphere is warm and fills your heart right up. I never wanted the book to end and always wished for more pages but sadly every book has to end at some point. Jay Asher’s style of writing encourages the reader to continue to keep reading and never stop. I would want to read a sequel of this book in the future.
What Light is about a typical girl named Sierra who sells trees during the holidays with her family. She decides to not get involved in any type of holiday romance even though she is encouraged to do so by her best friends. However, that changes when she meets Caleb whom she is amazed about because of the good deeds that he does during the holidays.
The characters in this book is well structured and very realistic. They grab you and make you apart of the story which is why I considered this book a second world to escape in. I personally enjoyed reading and viewing the lives of each of the characters even if they were minor like a family friend.
The main idea of the story is to not judge a person by rumours but instead get to know them without having any doubts. I would rate this book 4.5/5

Sierra spends every Christmas season in California so that her parents can work at their family Christmas tree lot. This year is different; Sierra meets Caleb a local guy buying her trees so that he can give them away to families who can’t afford their own. But Caleb has a past that he can’t escape. Will Sierra be able to overcome his past mistakes to let them have a future together?
I picked up this book because I really like the author and although this is a totally different genre from his first, it's still an amazing read for the Christmas season. It’s a really cute and light hearted story that's great for this time of year! I really enjoyed it. Rating 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Two hearts, slowly unravelling and opening up to one another. This is the story of Caleb and Sierra, two teens troubled by various problems. Sierra's family is stressed about their tree lot, especially since they may not be able to return to it for another Christmas the next year. Caleb is a boy with a lot of baggage, who catches Sierra's heart from his first visit for a Christmas tree. The two are literally perfect for each other, but so much stands in the way that readers will find their hearts beating in sync with the book. Can love conquer all? Truly a book that is more than some "cute Christmassy theme". 5/5 stars
