Dark but a sarcastic yet realistic reflection of the human condition, particularly in these times. So many clever twists and turns that even the rare masterminds among us will think "Whoa...didnt see that coming". This isnt a movie. This is a film. It is no masterpiece, but it is far superior to the usual Hollywood crap aimed at the unwashed masses.

Certainly a dark movie but well worth my time. I enjoyed every bit of it and felt the Oscar was deserved.

Advertised as a "Dark Comedy". "Kind Hearts and Coronets" and "The Wrong Box" are dark
comedies. This movie is not a comedy. The amount of extreme profanity overwhelms any attempt to develop a story that has any chance for true feelings about the characters.
The Anti-Catholic scene with the priest was not necessary at all either. So many movies
make use of the "F" word as if it would not be realistic without it, but this movie goes far beyond that. It makes "Fargo" actually look like a family comedy. The story line is depressing
throughout, and leaves the audience flat. The hype for this movie was unrewarded.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri primarily consists of long periods of ugliness and nastiness, relieved - transfigured - by a few brief moments of beauty. The former make the latter seem all the more surprising, gratuitous, and genuine. It's a movie with a trite, obvious moral - anger begets anger - but its demonstration of how, sometimes almost inexplicably, the cycle is broken is sublime.

A good and skillful film. Excellent acting.

Picky point: "Billboards" has no real feel for an actual Missouri town. At one point Sam Rockwell's deputy says Missouri is in the "South." No one native to this state thinks Missouri is in the south.

Amazing performances by several of the actors. Incredibly depressing story. Constant foul language. I don't regret seeing the movie, but I wouldn't choose to watch it again.

Brilliant, wonderful imagination and writing to create this story. Watched again the next day to enjoy every word and it's poignant soundtrack. It's funny if you don't take it too seriously.

At the heart of this extraordinary film lies a profound melancholy at the passing of love, beauty, and, ultimately, of life itself.

"When true hearts lie withered,
And fond ones are flown,
Oh, who would inhabit
This bleak world alone?"

It's also one of the funniest movies in years. I loved it.

Miraculous acting: McDormand & Rockwell manage to win our sympathies for a couple of rather unsympathetic characters, then lead us on an wild emotional rollercoaster ride: from heartache to anger to humor to compassion, the mood pivots on a dime. Harrelson, too, does a great job: convincing us of the solidity of a man who could easily have seemed too good to be true.

Masterly screenplay and direction: with not a weak scene or a wasted moment, it dares us to keep up as it springs plot twist after twist. External realism is not its forte. It's after inner truth. Catching the perp is secondary.

The soundtrack is spot on: grounding us in the movement from despair and anger to acceptance.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Even has some dark humor, and amazing acting.
