The people who don't like this movie just don't get it. It's a story about how crazy our world is. How social media affects people. We all have secrets but yet are so quick to crucify someone as soon as we learn their secrets. It's a dramatization of art imitating life. Its brilliantly directed with a great score. A Quentin Tarantino-esque movie of mean girls ending in the purge. All the dialogue in the beginning is relevant, so pay attention.

It is so interesting to me when an alt-left movie gets made but it turns out their flesh and blood depiction of the horrible alt-right looks just like antifa that shows up at protests: cover their faces, bring weapons, looking for a fight with those whose lives they blame for the condition of theirs. At some point, the haters on the left and right need to stop hating on each other and painting each other as the soulless, intolerant haters, look in the mirror, and stop their intolerant hate of those who do not think or act like them.
Overall, this was just a bad movie. Really, you would probably get more out of spending 2 hours watching a decent debate about tolerance, transgenderism, tolerance of religion (yes, even Christianity!), moral freedom and so forth. Hari Nef is far too subpar an actor to play this significant a role. I was surprised by how weak Bill Skarsgard's performance was as well. There were a few comeuppance moments that are satisfying, but aside from that, there is not much in value from this film, IMO.

Bad movie--total waste of time,,not even close to a movie like the PURGE. Don't waste 2 hrs of your life.

I really wanted to see this when it was in theaters, unfortunately Malco didn't show it long enough for me to be off work to do so. The trailer interested me alone, but then one of the reviews stood out calling it "Means Girl meets The Purge" -- which isn't wrong. But, that review is a perfect summation of this film. Add in the social commentary, which is spot on, and the feelings you get because of what happens, it's perfect. The cast is pretty great, a spotlight on Bill Skarsgard of IT and Castle Rock fame being one of the characters that you didn't see the turn coming for. (At least not to the extent that was shown.) And Joel McHale of Community fame, being the creepy a-hole he was.

This is one of those movies that you don't have to take seriously because it doesn't take itself seriously. I hope there's a sequel but with it performing the way it did at the box office, it's unlikely. Shame though.

So this movie came to my attention as a "shoot 'em up", which it only is for about 10 min. The rest of it is a really boring, drawn out build up with social commentary. The shoot 'em up portion is then cut short for out right preachy commentary, for which the movie has in no way established its credibility.

Bottom line, this movie's concept has promise but it fails to pull it off and as a result this is a waste of a couple of hours.

This is a movie about how scary it is to be a young woman. Visually gorgeous (think Jean-Luc Goddard), emotionally draining (think Park Chan-wook), it's a film that's hard to watch, but worth every moment.
It's a "true story" that hasn't already happened, but it's a film about the world we live in RIGHT NOW, full of Comicsgaters + Proud Boys who take their misogyny + transphobia offline for some real-life violence.
This is a film about the possibilities of radical, inclusive sisterhood, and it's message of hope to survive this world of wicked men.
Highly recommend to anyone under 40.

Really???
Lots of blood and killing.

It's about what you would expect from a movie like this. A lot of drugs, drinking, cursing, nudity, clueless adults and violence.
