Javed, a British teen of Pakistani descent, is growing up in England in 1987. Amidst the racial and economic turmoil of the times, he writes poetry as a means to escape the intolerance of his hometown and the inflexibility of his traditional father. But when he is introduced to the music of 'the Boss,' Javed sees parallels to his working-class life in Springsteen's powerful lyrics.

This was a pleasant surprise. You don't have to be a rabid Bruce Springsteen fan to enjoy this film which is based on a true story. The music complements the film very well and the songs were very well placed. If you enjoyed Yesterday, you might enjoy this one.

This movie brought back fond memories of attending Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA concert in 1985. A well-acted movie that will make you feel good!

Based on a true story and incredibly well done, this movie is a must for anyone who has ever been a teen looking for answers and connecting with song lyrics. I am not a big Springsteen fan, but thoroughly enjoyed this film. Anyone in their 50's and 60's will definitely connect to the 80's era it takes place in. For me it is a watch again sort of film!

Bruce's music has and effect on a young man's life. It helps him have a cause and purpose. Teens need that.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, but was disgusted by the racism.

If you know Bruce Springsteen's biggest albums -- Born to Run, Born in the USA, The River -- you will find this movie uplifting and close to the heart. It speaks to how the core American values of self-determination in the context of family and culture troubles resonate far beyond our own shores. And it's nice to hear those familiar Springsteen songs nested in this multi-cultural coming of age story set in the recession torn U.K. of the 1980s.

Enjoyed the movie but for some unknown reason this story/these characters didn’t connect with me like some other films with similar plots.

I didn't know I needed a feel good movie about Bruce Springsteen but, here we are.

A heartwarming, feel-good film that underscores the universality of music. If you liked "Yesterday" or "Bend it Like Beckham," then you may also enjoy this film.
